For male ball pythons the probe will go about six scales in length. Male and female Ball Pythons both have an anal vent or cloaca near the tip of their tail.
Some will go their 2nd winter but they still must be 1500 grams or more.
Tail female ball python. Also in male ball pythons their tail tapers down more sharply at the end. In females there is no bulge and tapering of tail is gradual. Another sign that might help you determine the sex of your ball python is body size and weight.

Cloacal gaping however is good but Ive never witnessed it in Ball Pythons before. Females are usually ready to be bred their 3rd winter and over 1500 grams in weight. Some will go their 2nd winter but they still must be 1500 grams or more.

Got a male ball. The lesser male that i have paired her up with has bred 4 other females within a hour of putting him in the tub with them i have also tried to put her in the tub with him. She doesnt wag her tail the whole time only for about 30 min of putting him in then she stops wagging and sits on the oppisite sideshe used to wag her tail when i would take her out when.

The most widely accepted methods of ball python sexing are known as popping and probing Popping is a procedure which when performed correctly opens the snakes vent and exposes hemipenes if present. This is a classic sign of a female ball python letting a male know shes willing to breed. She wags her tail and spreads her scent to attract the male.
When the male responds he will climb over her and let her know he wants to breed as well. Ball pythons are mildly sexually dimorphic. Sexual dimorphism means the males and females are obviously different.
In the case of ball pythons females are generally larger than males. Hatchings are usually 8-12 inches in length. As snakes go ball pythons are relatively broad and robust with short tails.
You will notice some behavior and appearance changes in the female ball python. It will spend more time away from the warmer part of the cage coiling up in the cool side of its enclosure. Ball pythons are sexually dimorphic as females usually reach much larger sizes than males. Male ball pythons become sexually mature when they reach about 500 to 700 grams in weight. Females become mature at slightly larger sizes and they usually weigh 900 to 1500 grams before they are capable of breeding successfully.
